Originally called the Sheikh Rashid Tower, the Dubai World Trade Center (DWTC) started its operation in 1979 when it was inaugurated by none other than Queen Elizabeth II. Located in the heart of Dubai, the DWTC has played a critical role in the economic development and growth of UAE and is not just a financial institution but also a historical icon in Dubai’s history.
Over the years DWTC has taken countless initiatives to partner up with international companies, empower startups, and support SMEs and now has over 2000 businesses, representing 40 plus industries operating under its jurisdiction. This has also led to its expansion with new infrastructures like the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre (DICEC), Zabeel Halls, and One Central being added.
The Dubai World Trade Centre now covers an area of over 2 million square feet and even has 543 apartment units to house guests and professionals during events. In 2015 the Dubai World Trade Centre Authority (DWTCA) was created to oversee the free zone operations in DWTC which was also established the same year.
